Setup steps
|
Measurements
The first step consist of taking the measurements of the animal's body.
About fifty measurements are necessary and are transferred on a detailed
schematic of the anatomy.

Mock-up
For certain setups, it is preferable to make a 1/5 model with plasteline.
A photographic documentation of the species is used to define the
expression and posture of the animal, as per the client's request.

Mannequin
The following step is to sculpt a polystyrene bloc stratified with
fiberglass. This mannequin has to respect as much as possible the anatomy
because it will be covered with the animal's skin, transformed in leather.
All this procedure is following the protocols of the best museums of the world (thiney 1996).

These steps and the quality of the sculptural work distinguish the work of Eric Ducharme,
compared to the commercial production which utilize pre-molded mannequins.
